In a season that has already proven significant after defeating their cross town rivals the Des Moines Derby Dames April 14 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Jacobsen Exhibition Center, the Mid Iowa Rollers are back at home and ready to take on Kansas City Plan B.
Des Moines’ number one team, which owns a 5-0 record thus far on the season, battle it out in the Reign of Fire at Hy-Vee Hall on June 9th, 2012. Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free. Doors open at 6:30pm and the bout starts at 7 p.m.
In 2006, The Mid Iowa Rollers originated roller derby in the state of Iowa. In 2010, they became the first and only undefeated team in Iowa with an 8-0 record.  The team has successfully paved the way for roller derby action in Iowa. And when it comes to sheer athleticism, determination and drive, MIR continues to blaze the way. Since the team was started has grown exponentially – not only in fan and player numbers, but also in competitive performance, civic reputation and mentoring newer derby teams.

Once again fans can enjoy all of the conveniences of seasons past such as plentiful seating, full concessions and adult beverages! And don’t forget, our After Party is just 2 blocks south at ALL PLAY, the OFFICIAL PLAYGROUND of the Mid Iowa Rollers! Come play with us!

Becoming a Referee or Non-Skating Official is an awesome opportunity to do just that! Now is your chance to join Iowa’s FIRST Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby League, the Mid Iowa Rollers. Currently recruiting men and women to be Referees and Non-Skating Officials (NSO’s), the people who help make the bouts possible.

Referees are the enforcers of the rules – the Sheriffs so to speak. Their job is to keep the game safe and fair. To be a Referee, you should be comfortable on skates and able to multi-task.

If skating isn’t really your thing, consider becoming an NSO. NSO’s keep statistics at the bout such as penalty tracking and scorekeeping as well as many other exciting positions. It’s easier than you think!

These are both important assets to the team that require no experience but demand dedication and commitment so serious inquiries only please.

Farm Fresh Roller Girls take on your Mid Iowa Rollers for the first time….

Mid Iowa Rollers – the first roller derby team in Iowa – are heading into their last scheduled Iowa Event Center home game this season, facing Rock Island, Illinois’ own Farm Fresh Roller Girls Saturday, August 27 at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines!

As always, come for derby, but also get in on the full bar, food, raffle and FUN. Drawing proceeds benefit Victims of Crime Services, so be sure to catch one of those Mid Iowa Rollers skating around with the bucket full of chances… and you could win a bucket full of CASH.

What’s more? All attendees will get treated to a rocking concert as The Psycho Circus, Des Moines’ premier KISS tribute experience shreds, wails and jams in full makeup at halftime.

All ages are welcome on the floor and in the stands, but take your place in SUICIDE SEATING at your risk only (and only if you’re 18)! Also, don’t forget your camera. After the bout, the derby girls will happily pose and sign autographs!
